False! Gas, vehicle depreciation, and labor are 3 expenses every junk hauler has. But the most expensive component are the fees required to dump. Typically a dump will charge $50 per cubic yard of junk PLUS another flat fee as high as $100 or more for ‘machine type’ items like refrigerators, computers, washers and dryers. Most of the quote you receive from a junk hauler will be for these costs with some additional price to cover labor and travel.
2) Junk haulers don’t dispose of your junk properly
False! You should always talk with your junk hauler about what they plan on doing with your trash, appliances, and other unwanted items to ensure they are discarded properly. But the majority of junk haulers know what they are doing and are doing their part to take care of the environment.
3) It is cheaper to haul junk by yourself
False! Junk haulers have their own trucks, packing techniques, lifting techniques, crew, and knowledge. If you have a small amount of garbage it might be easier to just take it down to the dump yourself. But as soon as you need to make 2 or more trips a junk hauler becomes a great option. Most junk haulers can take 6 or more loads that you would be able to take in a normal vehicle. That will save you 5 trips, plus the travel expenses and time playing Tetris to load your small vehicle.
4) It is too small or too big a job, a junk hauler won’t take it
